Dear Parents,

Thank you to the parents who have come along to support our students this week at the basketball and the Grade 6 and 7 Art Celebration. It was also pleasing to see a good number of parents attend our sessions about planning for possible school closure and learning from home in case of COVID-19 coming into our school community. Our teachers have been preparing by upskilling on a number of online tools and planning activities and tasks which can be completed with feedback given online. We are hopeful it does not come to this but if it does, we feel well-prepared. Enjoy your long weekend and we will see you next Thursday!

Port Macquarie Koala Hospital Bake Sale

Kiara Brown

Hi everyone! On the 20th of February at 12:50 during lunchtime, there will be a bake sale hosted by the Grade 12s in order to raise funds for the Port Macquarie Koala Hospital. The bake sale will be at the tables in front of Room 1 and we will be selling everything from sponge cakes to Japanese tuna onigiri. It would mean so much for you to help this cause and we would greatly appreciate it as an estimate of 25,000 koalas have died due to the Australian fires which have also scorched 15 million acres of land. The Port Macquarie Koala hospital will benefit greatly from your donations. Thank you and hope to see you all there!

International Mother Tongue Day
Tuesday, February 25th, 8 am @ the MPR

On Tuesday, February 25th all of BIS will celebrate International Mother Tongue Day from 8:00 to 8:45 AM. This event aims to celebrate the almost 20 languages that are spoken by our learners and expose those of us who do not speak these languages to another world of communication. We will read books in native tongues as well as do some writing in mother languages related to being a citizen of the world and the mentality that accompanies it. We invite all parents and BIS community members to join us, especially if you are speaking another language (or more). Save the date and be on the lookout for more information.

Artist of the week

In order to celebrate and recognize our talented and creative students who are generating fantastic artwork both in the classroom and in their own time, we are showcasing artwork featuring a selected artist each week. You can find their work exhibited in the Library throughout the course of the week.

This weeks artist is  CHARLOTTE JAQUIER in Grade 7

Artistic Statement

Hello! My name Charlotte, I am currently in the 7th grade. I enjoy drawing because I am not good at photography but I enjoy capturing moments as well the feeling when I get a drawing just how I want it. I am currently working on coloring style and using more diverse concepts in my art as soon as I am happy with my developmental stages of art I probably will be committing to some characters. You can track my characters @an_xo__caido on Instagram. Thank you for the time 🙂
