Message from the Chairman of the Board – May 15, 2020

Dear BIS Community,

I would like to reach out to you with an update regarding the unprecedented circumstances we are all facing.

BIS will not be spared from the effects of the economic down-turn so we are faced with adapting to the new circumstances. One key parameter for how we will adapt is to ensure BIS continues to provide the quality of education for which it has become known. This is the core of who we are.

In order to assist the board and Garth in our work at this critical time, we have set up an ad-hoc Adaption Topic Group. This group has been tasked with identifying the key factors that need to be addressed to see us through this crisis. We have been using a holistic approach to look at the circumstances of our BIS families, staffing needs as well as the financial constraints of the school and will be announcing our solutions over the coming weeks.

We recognize that everyone has been affected by Covid-19 and we are creating solutions that will help support our families with our fees and terms of payment for our 2020-2021 school year. One solution will be in the form of a deferred payment system that will provide more flexibility for payments. We highly appreciate the loyalty of our BIS families and are working hard to find ways to ensure we can offer assistance in this difficult time. We will inform you of the details of this program on Wednesday, 20 May after we have been able to thoroughly review and approve the program.

The board would like to thank all the members of our community as we know you have been facing hardships yet have also stepped up to play a much more active role in supporting your children as they study from home. Thank you also to all the faculty and staff who have had to quickly adapt to a totally new work environment yet have seemingly done so quite effortlessly.

Please be assured that we continue to work closely with Garth to ensure we maneuver adeptly through this changing environment to ensure BIS remains the high quality institution it has become over the years.

We hope you are all safe and keeping mentally and physically fit.

Kib
