Message From the Head of School – May 22, 2020

Dear Bali Island School Community,

I would like to share the following adjustments from BIS to our community due to Covid-19. With these adjustments, BIS demonstrates the values which we hold ourselves accountable to. We are a caring institution. Term IV was spent in Distance Learning mode and we recognize that some of our families expected a discount. Due to the nature of our school operations, our expenses were committed. We are now positioned to make a significant adjustment for all of our BIS families. Thank you for your grace. BIS is a principled institution. We understand the trust that you placed in our institution when you made the decision to enroll your child at BIS – we value this trust and commit to maintaining the high standards and quality you have come to expect from BIS.

While we recognize that the ending of SY19-20 challenged us, my pride for BIS has never been fuller. The faculty members have continued to demonstrate how much they care about the education of each BIS student and his/her experience. They have wrapped each child up with daily doses of kindness, laughter, challenge and support. Our BIS community has sent positive and grateful messages to our faculty and staff, students and parents alike, demonstrating your reflective and grateful nature.

The Board has been working tirelessly to create the means for BIS to not only survive this downturn but to strategically position our school to come out the other side stronger than before. I would like to thank the BIS Board as well as Task Force members for their thoughtful and cautious approach to the challenges the pandemic poses.

Tuition for SY20-21 will be adjusted to -10% from this current year’s fees

I would like to underscore that we expect to start school year 20-21 with students coming through our gates on August 4. We will not collect EOTC Fees for this coming year until we determine it is safe to take excursions.

We would also like to share a Deferred Tuition Payment Plan. The goal of this instrument is to assist families by decreasing tuition due early in the school year to later in the school year. Our hope is that Bali’s economy will roar back over the next 12 months. The Deferred Payment plan is established to meet temporary financial challenges of loyal BIS families and allows their child(ren) to continue their education at BIS. This plan provides a bridge for your child(ren) to remain a BIS Dragon.

Criteria for Application

  1. Currently a BIS Family
  2. A positive past payment history

Application Process

BIS parents apply for the Deferred Tuition Payment Plan by filling out an application and providing the following information directly to the Head of School:

  • Loyalty Statement – Identify length of tenure at BIS and list involvement in BIS activities
  • Viability Statement – Ability of the family to recover financially over the next 12 months
  • Link to application

Once approved, the HoS and the family will sign the agreement.

  • Signed Deferred Tuition Payment Plan with HoS

I continue to be thankful to work in such a purpose-driven community. BIS exists to help young people learn to live purpose-driven lives, lives that impact others and our world in positive ways. This is what drives our Faculty and me, this is what drives our Board, this is why you chose BIS, this is Bali Island School. Covid-19 will not deter us from this purpose.

Engaging and empowering globally-minded, confident learners to reach their utmost potential in an active, creative and respectful learning community.
