Happy Anniversary Bali Island School
Please enjoy this video from our faculty and staff celebrating the 35th year anniversary of BIS!

Level 3 Announcement
As I waited eagerly for the Level 3 announcement to be made last Monday evening, and as the hour was getting late, I reflected on my planning to have students come to school in just a few hours. My reflection had me consider the plan from the perspective of our learners, many of whom have been away from physical school for an extended period, many of whom are young and many of whom are new to our community. While we all want face-to-face as soon as possible, I have decided to amend our plans to wait 24 hours after the announcement (whenever it comes) to have students access to campus. I am hopeful this time will allow each of us to make sure we have our plans in place, provide the time required to make the mental switch to meeting teachers and classmates in person, and ensuring time for this readiness and excitement to sink in.

We understand the stressors that some of our students will feel when accessing campus. We want to ensure each of our learners has time to process and be ready in order for learning to happen at the strongest levels.

Homeroom teachers, Ibu Noortje and I will be ready to assist each of our students to navigate campus routines, socialization, and learning.

Amendments to our Covid Protocols
Thank you to the members of our Health Committee who continue to meet to ensure BIS is operating as safely as possible. Please note two amendments below:

  1. The addition of a new decision point under “For those who are feeling sick”. If a community member feels unwell and for greater than 48 hours BIS will require a Doctor’s certificate indicating the community member is safe to return to campus.
  2. There are two new asterisks (*) on our contact tracing definitions indicating your ability, or that of your family to quarantine effectively.

We will be in the safest possible position to provide face-to-face learning when 100% of our community abides by our protocols with fidelity. Thank you for doing your part.

Contact Tracing at BIS
Contact tracing is done by the school to help determine close contacts and level of risk in the event of a verified or suspected case of COVID on or off campus.  This tracing will be done by our Head of School and the Health Committee. Upon completion of this process, the classroom and any affected areas will be deep cleaned, and any individuals determined to be either primary, secondary, or tertiary contacts will be asked to follow the guidelines below.

*Note: BIS makes the assumption that a family member with a positive or suspected case of Covid can be isolated completely in the home including common areas (bathroom and kitchen). If isolation of the positive/suspected contact can not be achieved then all family members are asked to stay off campus for 14 days or until all signs and symptoms have cleared for 24 hours with no medications.

Our definition of Close Contact is defined as one or more of the following events occurring:

  • You were within 1.5m of someone who has COVID for a total of 15 minutes or more in a 24 hr period (regardless of mask use).
  • You provided care at home to someone who is sick with COVID.
  • You had direct physical contact with the person (hugged or kissed them).
  • You shared eating or drinking utensils.
  • They sneezed, coughed, or somehow got respiratory droplets on you.

South Parking Lot Closes September 10
Please note the South Parking lot will close as a BIS facility on September 10, 2021. All parents who need parking facilities will be directed to use the North Parking lot. Thank you for your attention to this important announcement.

If you are dropping off a Primary or Secondary student and not parking your vehicle, I suggest you use Jalan Pemamoran (road from By-Pass to the BIS South entrance) and drop your child at the corner.
