Message from the Head of School – December 3, 2021

Pickup on Jalan Pemamoran, Sanur Kaja
If you are choosing to pick up your child on Jalan Pemamoran, Sanur Kaja at 2:45-3:00 p.m. I would ask that you do your very best to time it well so that the road does not get too full. Texting your secondary child as you get close may have him/her/they ready to be picked up rather than having your vehicle idling on the side of the road. Thank you for thinking about our neighbors.

The new parking lot construction has begun.

Thank you for your continued patience.

December 17 Schedule and Assembly Invitation
December 17 is a half-day with students heading home at 11:30 (Primary) and 12:00 noon (Secondary).

I would like to invite Primary parents to an Assembly beginning at 8:20 a.m. in the Covered Court. Students from each grade level will present some of their learning from Semester I – harkening back to the days of Primary Shares.

We will then have our 2nd Annual Santa Fun Run (masks ON) in which we encourage all students to raise some money for an orphanage in Bali – helping to make the orphan’s lives a tiny bit brighter. All parents and guardians are welcome to join in the run!

At 11:00 a.m. the Secondary students will head to the Covered Court for their sharing and assembly. Secondary parents are welcome to join.

Due to Covid protocols, the assemblies will be held outdoors, and anyone in attendance will be required to wear a mask. Thank you for your cooperation.

Holiday Service
As service to our community is a goal of our school which helps us to build caring globally-minded citizens, I am aware that you are being asked to support many student-led initiatives at this time of year. The end of Semester I coincides with the spirit of giving and also is a natural time for projects to reach a point of Action. I appreciate that we may not be in a position to assist in all of the opportunities. I might suggest sitting down with your child and discussing the nature of giving, the importance of supporting one’s community, and then decide as a family which initiatives align best with you and your family.

I must admit to feeling extremely proud of this year’s Service as Action and CAS projects which are impacting our community in so many positive ways. Congratulations students, advisors, and Mr. Andrews and Mr. Singh for your leadership!

A look ahead to Term III
10-day Quarantine/Omicron variant
The newly communicated 10-day quarantine now means that BIS will provide online learning from January 10 through 18. Students will be welcome onto campus on Wednesday, January 19. This allows all students the ability to access the learning whether in Bali or in quarantine.

Our students continue to follow our health protocols to the letter. I have reminded all students about the importance of washing hands routinely at school, between classes, and at lunchtime. Thank you for reinforcing this message at home.
