Covid Corner – January 28, 2022

This week we had a Student in Grade 11 test positive for Covid 19. The student’s last day was Friday, January 21. The positive test results came in on Tuesday. The student has two siblings who came to school on Monday and Tuesday.

Due to this we followed the BIS Covid Protocol and determined the following steps:

  • Grade 11 students were considered Primary contacts
    • Sent home on Wednesday morning
    • PCR test Thursday (Day 6 after the last contact with a Positive case)
    • If negative – welcome to school today (as of 2:00 p.m. today 11 students have tested negative with the remaining 5 waiting for results)
    • Grade K/1 (Sibling class) were considered Secondary contacts
    • Sent home on Wednesday morning
    • Sibling will PCR test on Sunday (Day 6 after the last contact with classmates)
    • If negative – all K/1 students will be welcome to school
  • Grade 10 (Sibling class) were considered Secondary contacts
    • Sent home on Wednesday morning
    • Sibling will PCR test on Sunday (Day 6 after the last contact with classmates)
    • If negative – all K/1 students will be welcome to school

I will inform K/1 and Grade 10 families once PCR results are available – Sunday afternoon/evening.

This week we had a Parent of two students test positive, also on Tuesday. The two students did not come to school on Wednesday.

Due to this we followed the BIS Covid Protocol and determined the following steps:

  • PS3/4 students were considered Secondary contacts
    • Sent home on Wednesday morning
    • Student whose parent tested positive will PCR test on Monday (Day 6 after the last contact with classmates)
    • If negative – all PS3/4 students will be welcome to school
  • Grade 5 students were considered Secondary contacts
    • Sent home on Wednesday morning
    • Student whose Parent tested positive will PCR test on Monday (Day 6 after last contact with classmates)
    • If negative – all Grade 5 students will be welcome to school

I will inform K/1 and Grade 10 families once PCR results are available – Monday afternoon/evening.

Lesson Learned: If you suspect your child has Covid, please isolate your child. If you are unable to isolate your child, please keep any siblings at home.
