Stay tuned for announcements regarding Showcases that will take place over the coming months. In the meantime, here are some photos featuring grade 8,9, and 10 Music classes performing at the beautiful Independence celebration.

BIS Theatre Spotlight
BIS Theatre kicked off the new academic year with an inspiring and lively performance of “CICAK and KANCIL”. To honor Indonesian Independence Day celebrations and further experience Indonesian culture, students in DRAMA 6-7 first arts rotation explored the traditional folk tale about two animal creatures – cicak, a small gecko, and kancil, a small deer. Students presented a theatrical version of this humorous folk tale and also displayed their growing understanding of performing arts fundamentals, physical theatre techniques and ensemble/collaborative work. Congratulations to all performers and actors involved:

Narrator/Balinese girls Emma, Kirana, Jasmine, Nika, Lilly, Mandalay; Narrator/Balinese kecak boys Youngmin, Lael, Mees; Cicak’s friend Sven; Cicak’s friendGibran; Main CicakSean; Kancil Philippe.

Counselor Workshop Series

On September 1st, Ms. Noortje conducted the first two workshops in the BIS Counselor Workshop series.

In the morning session, 18 parents from Primary school joined a session about Child safety; how to talk with children. In this interactive session, we discussed why it is important to talk with the children about safety and child protection. We learned what topics to talk about at what age and there were small group discussions on different safety topics.

The discussions were lively, and we all learned from each other.

In the afternoon session, the DP parents were invited to learn about the College and university counseling process.

There was a lot of information taken in by the parents and personal stories and questions made this session interactive. BIS started using a new university tool Unifrog for students to explore universities all over the world and the counselor to send their documents. There was not enough time to show and explore this new tool. Ms. Noortje will communicate to the DP parents when there will be a workshop solely on the use of Unifrog soon.
