Message from the Head of School – September 23, 2022

Thank you all who attended the first introductory session held by Ms Kara Wutze, lifestyle coach. The session went very well and follow up sessions are being arranged as follows: 0800 Thursday 29th September in the MPR room. If you missed the introductory session, you may STILL attend the follow up sessions. Please feel free to contact Kara directly on +62 812 9534 7866 for any enquiries.

As every year, and in line with our vision of being the school of choice for internationally-minded families in Indonesia, the guidance counselling program organises the BIS University Fair for G9-12. After two years, we are very excited that the fair can be held on campus again this year, and it will all happen on Thursday 29th of September from 8:00 to 11:00 am in the covered court area. All students in G9-12 will participate in the fair and parents are also welcome to join the entire fair.

Drop off times and procedures in Primary: Please note that we are working on how to improve the drop-off procedures for our Primary students that will enhance our current safeguarding measures and act on feedback. Meanwhile, please note that traditionally. PS3 and PS4 may go directly to class from 0730-0745, Kinder and G1 may play in the supervised play area until 0745 and classes begin, and that G2-G5 are encouraged to play until 0745 in the supervised area, but may also enter classrooms at times before 0745. As soon as we have made our improvements, I shall communicate them.

This week, we had World Literacy Day. It was wonderful to see such enthusiasm for reading. To maintain this momentum, I strongly encourage you as parents, to role model ‘reading for fun’ and to use our wonderfully well-resourced library. Please congratulate Mr NoahJon and Ibu Agung for organizing such a wonderful event.

Photos: when visiting the campus for school events, and in turn, potentially taking photos, please be mindful of the fact that there are parents who have elected to not have their child’s photos taken. We are working on a way to ensure privacy for such cases, but at the same time, maintain the moment, the spontaneity and the flow of the event. Meanwhile, we advise that you ask permission when taking photos to try and respect their right to privacy. Such measures provide tangible evidence of our commitment to our mission in that we value being part of a “respectful learning community”.

Safeguarding: please recall that when parents and visitors are on campus, they must ONLY use the adult toilets. When at the main football field or swimming pool area, there is an adult toilet next to the infirmary office. Please do NOT use the students toilets at the swimming pool.

Dates for the diary:

  • Potluck: Friday 30th September 1600 onwards.
  • 3-way conferences: Friday 07th October, all day, school is open, although regular classes are suspended.
  • International Day: Monday 24th October
