Message from the Head of School – January 20, 2023

I would like to take this opportunity to say 새해 복 많이 받으세요, chúc mừng năm mới, Maligayang Bagong Taon and 新年快乐 and happy new lunar year to all our parents and students who celebrate the Lunar New Year. May we wish you a healthy year ahead, 2023, the year of the rabbit, or if in Vietnam, the year of the cat! Recall that Monday 23rd is a holiday at BIS.

MYP Personal Project: Our MYP Coordinator, Ms. Jennifer Jenson, will be reaching out soon to invite parents to our Personal Project presentations by our Grade 10 students. Our Grade 9 parents and students will also be invited to attend to learn more about this milestone of the MYP. When you receive your invite, please support your child by attending the presentations. This is a perfect opportunity to witness our mission and definition of high-quality learning in action.

We have an ever-increasing lost and found collection of water bottles, pencil cases, uniform items, etc. We will place these in front of the admissions office next week. So they don’t go to waste, if after one week, they are not claimed, we shall donate these items to worthy local causes, and the uniform items to the PTA.

Hats in PYP: may I ask that our PYP parents ensure that their children have an appropriate hat for when they are playing outside? Students may bring their own hats, or, may purchase a wide-brimmed BIS hat at the office. Please help us keep your children safe from harmful UV rays.

Note that our cafe, Funbites, is a no-smoking and no-vaping environment. We would appreciate it if our parent community could demonstrate our core values by refraining from smoking/vaping in such areas. We wish to role-model healthy living for our students and ask our parents to help us role-model our core values.

I am sure that many of us have made some New Year fitness resolutions. In partnership with Bali International School, professional trainers from Paradise Gym will offer our community FREE fitness classes for parents, teachers, and any interested students from age 11 upwards.
