Grade 11 End of Semester Exams

The Grade 11 students have every reason to be happy now that their end of semester exams ended on Wednesday afternoon. For many students, this was their first taste of an exam half-week and it will have provided them with some pointers on where they can continue to improve moving forwards. Experience is a great teacher.

While the exams do give both the teachers and students an overview of their current progress and understanding of the content covered in their classes so far, the grades received are a secondary consideration at this point. Instead, students are expected to reflect on their areas of strengths and areas for improvement and apply these to future exam sessions. Our eyes are all firmly on the final exams in May 2021 and we are working towards success in those exams while appreciating that there will be bumps along the way. This is one small piece in the larger jigsaw of the DP. Well done Grade 11s, enjoy a welcome break this Friday!

Today was my first day at volleyball, we were playing with other students from schools CCS, Dyatmika and Taman Rama.

I selected two Learning Outcomes:

  • demonstrate the skills and recognize the benefits of working collaboratively
  • demonstrate challenges that have been undertaken, developing new skills in the process

In the activity, I achieved these two outcomes by starting off the session and doing some partnered drills such as setting the ball to each other and digging to help control the ball while also practicing where we want to put it. We would then go to spiking drills and critic each other on things that we could improve on with our digs, spikes, and sets. After we would go on and play 4 games of volleyball continuously mixing up the teams seeing who we work with best and what our strengths are when playing as a team.
