Parent Information Session

On Thursday, October 28th at 12:30, there will be an information session for parents focusing on an introduction to the Primary Years Programme (PYP). The session will focus on what is the PYP, what is inquiry and how parents can support their children in this programme. This session is particularly suitable for families that are new to the PYP but also a good refresher for families that have been with us for a while. It will be an interactive session and is best if you join with a laptop. Looking forward to seeing you there.

PYP Three-Way Conferences
Thank you to all parents and students who participated in our three-way conferences last Friday, October 8th. Students were empowered to discuss their learning and understanding with their parents and teachers, allowing for personal responsibility of their learning while being supported. Students, parents, and teachers collaborated to identify strengths and areas for improvement.

Preschool Bahasa Indonesia

In Bahasa Indonesia, they inquired into different kinds of traditional games in Indonesia such as kelereng, congklak, engklek, and lompat tali. They also will learn how to express feelings in Bahasa Indonesia such as senang, sedih, bersemangat, and takut. Students learn new vocabulary about Indonesian traditional games and feelings in Bahasa Indonesia. They do some activities like watching videos, playing Indonesian games, drawing and coloring.

Grade 3 PPKn
In PPKn class students learned about rights and responsibility at home and at school. They identified the difference of rights and responsibility and tried to analyze some examples of rights such as play, education, love, food, clothes, etc. Analyzed examples of responsibility such as study, respect, helping, cleaning, being on time, etc. They will also learn about the importance of personal responsibility and their own rights.

Grade 5 students are Internationally Minded

The IB Learner profile is a key element of an IB education. “The learner profile supports students in developing international-mindedness and in taking action for positive change.”  (The Learner, myIB, 2018). Under the theme How We Organise Ourselves, Grade 5 students are considering how our classroom works. We discussed the importance of how we behave, what we think, say, and do. We used the ten learner profile attributes to support this deep dive into how we can be more internationally minded.

To promote student voice, choice, and ownership, students were broken up into groups and given the teacher created learner profile posters that were in the class. We discussed what we liked and disliked about them. Students then constructed their own success criteria for what would make some excellent student-designed posters to promote our understanding of what the learner profile looks like in our very own classroom.

Students used the IB documentation and our current posters to break down the attribute they were assigned, using a graphic organizer to make their thinking visible. After sharing ideas with peers and teachers they then got to work on creating their own visual poster to be displayed in the classroom, regularly referring to their own success criteria as they worked.

Congratulations Grade 5 on a fantastic effort at building our understanding of being internationally minded while building our understanding on how our classroom works.

Primary StuCo Spirit Week

The Primary STUCO team has been appointed and we have 5 responsible and dedicated students who will run the fun events in Primary school this year. The members of Primary STUCO this year are; Lael Kim (gr.5), Jasmine Hoffmann (Gr.5), India Maxwell (Gr.5), Deelisha Verma (Gr. 5), Nika Lazuardi (Gr. 5).

The first event for our Primary STUCO this year will be “Primary Spirit Week”. It will be held on 1 – 5 November 2021. The idea of this Spirit week is actually a fun way to encourage school spirit, a positive culture, and unity among students. The team is in the process of planning the event by collecting ideas from primary students about the theme for each day and the fun activities that the students will be participating in. We are going to send an update about Spirit Week via homeroom next week. Get ready to be creative!
