Message from the Head of School – January 14, 2021

100%
By all accounts, the first week back went very well with 100% of our students on campus. I will be back on Monday morning and can’t wait to see BIS back at full strength!

Thank you for your keen attention to your child’s health and for filling out the health card each and every day. Maintaining the health of our community by owning our own family’s health is crucial to our community’s overall ability to provide face-to-face learning. If your child or household family member is unwell, please exercise caution and keep your child at home.

Vaccinations for 6-11 year old students
Second vaccinations are scheduled for next Saturday, January 22 between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. We will communicate once vaccinations are confirmed to be at the Puskesmas.

International School Assessment (ISA)
Students in grades 3 through 10 and are new to BIS will go through trial testing next week to prepare them for ISA testing which will occur in early February for all students grades 3-5 and MYP 6-10. Please see a separate tab in this week’s eNews if interested in learning more.

Expanded Skort sizing
As you may already know, the BIS skort which is currently available for our female students comes in child sizes 4-12. Based on student and parent feedback, it has come to our attention that the available sizes do not comfortably accommodate all of our students. We are committed to offering an expanded range of sizes. In order to determine the need, please email Ibu Indira at reception@baliis.net if your child would like to have an adult skort size (S, M, L) which will be available in the near future. We will process payment and orders through the front office. Thank you to our students who advocated for comfort, and BIS parent, Allison Jaquier, for your work on this initiative.

New Parent orientation
Next Friday morning, January 21 at 8:00 a.m., we invite all new parents to the Courtyard to share a coffee and get to know each other, make connections with current BIS parents and meet our PTA and Class representatives. Once connections have been made, new parents will be invited into the library for a brief presentation on all things BIS. I look forward to seeing you all there.
