Message from the Head of School – March 2, 2022

Happy Nyepi
Enjoy the silence, the stars, and the journey.
Encourage your child to descreen and deschool as well.

Face to Face Learning (?)
I am sure you have all read this exciting press release. If this is officially confirmed over the Nyepi celebration or into the weekend you will:

  • Receive an email from me with the confirmation
  • BIS would then return to face to face learning on Wednesday, March 9

If this press release is not officially confirmed we will continue with our Distance Learning (DL) program.

Please understand that our teachers do plan lessons for the DL modality and that these plans take time to create and effort to teach. In order for teachers to be ready to teach in face-to-face mode, they need time to prepare the hands-on learning activities, experiments, and creative collaboration opportunities you expect from our BIS education. Thank you for your understanding with regards to the short delay in opening face to face.

We also understand the social-emotional toll that switching between DL and face-to-face learning does present to our students. Providing 24-48 hours for students to make this mental adjustment has worked well in the past and has been appreciated by many of our students and families.
