ASA Virtual Band Sharing

At the start of term 4, some keen musicians began to collaborate online in the afterschool activity ‘Virtual Band’ club. As we are seeing in the broader community, this is a very challenging time for musicians to connect with one another and keep up and sustain the creative energy.

Please enjoy this online collaboration between Ralvian, Agus, Josiah, Laura, and Tata (audio only this time). Congratulations on a powerful performance!

Grade 7 Students Advertisement Campaigns

Students created their own advertisements from the G10 Personal Project Products.  They not only made fantastic television and print ads, but they also learned a ton of persuasive techniques used in the media all around us… but don’t just take my word for it!

Mischa & Kristopher: Haloe Skin Care Products

“To me, it’s been pretty much new territory, I’ve never done anything about ads before, and I found this unit very fascinating and informative as I learned various aspects about how ad manipulation/convictions can happen.”  – Mischa

“I feel like this assignment was that one friend you always needed but you didn’t know you wanted.”
– Kristopher

Leila & Marvel: Wakeboard

“This was quite meaningful… if you would want to be a salesman and advertise your client’s products with effective and correct advertising techniques.” – Marvel

“In the end, I am impressed with the advertisements I and my partner made, and I would enjoy doing another unit like this but maybe when I can actually see my teachers and classmates.” – Leila

Kristina, Emma, & Maxwell: Reef Rescue Website

“I learned about the different techniques on marketing a product which were ethos, pathos, logos and humour.” – Emma

“This process taught me how to work with other people and it was challenging, but I became more organized and more patient.” – Kristina

“I also learnt a lot more about how to be more persuasive when I write.” – Maxwell

Noemie & Andrey: Electric Sauna

“This assignment was quite interesting to me, I think that I would be happy to do something like this again… I learned quite a lot and I am more aware of how advertisements are made now.” – Noemie

“If we will ever have a chance to do this again I would do it. This was really fun because of teamwork and collaboration. I learned about many things and how to make a print ad that looks like a real print ad.”
– Andrey

Jasmine & Louis Wu: Acoustic Guitar

“I think that I want to do something like this again in the future because this helped me quite a bit with my communication skills and if I keep on doing assignments like this, one day I might be able to communicate better with my peers and other people.” – Jasmine

“I would like to do this again because it is actually quite fun working with somebody that you don’t usually work with… I am very proud of our work.” – Louis

Charlotte & Tata: Wakeboarding Vest

“I definitely felt myself becoming more aware and intrigued by the marketing tactics in the products I see every day. It also somehow makes the things I see in commercials feel less genuine one way or another.” – Charlotte

“It was meaningful and it showed me many ways for persuading people in different ways.” – Tata

Sofiane & Nina: Batik Shirt

“I think it is meaningful because I now know the main techniques that advertisement companies use in order to persuade the audience to go buy it, as well as the definition of those techniques used.” – Sofiane

“We really looked at the persuasive techniques, and target audiences, and I learned more about advertisements.” – Nina

Maulin & Ashleigh: Sustainable Surfboard

“The most important part of this for me is that I probably won’t get manipulated by ads that much and I think it is also fun to just analyse an ad that is on TV during the commercial breaks.” – Maulin

“I was also really proud of our actual ads. I thought they looked quite professional and they looked really good. As well as we used a lot of different techniques.” – Ashleigh

Lana & Skye: Sports Bag

“I would love to do something like this again because it was just fun to do and I enjoyed it. I definitely learned from this assessment.” – Skye

“I am very happy with what we created because we managed to finish our work, we worked equally, and we communicated with each other.  I believe we have made a successful advertisement.” – Lana

Nour & Bridey: Motorcycle Jacket

“This full project helped me better understand how ads are created and the lengthy process of research, graphic design, and promotion that is hidden behind each ad.” – Nour

“I think that my partner and I did a good job and we knew what we were doing and we made a good presentation.” – Bridey
